Friendship Trophy 2023

Kevin Pitts, DG District 5495 delivered the Friendship Trophy to the Rotary Club of the Verde Valley on September 14, 2023.  The Rotary Club of the Verde Valley, President Amanda Arnold, delivered the traveling "friendship" trophy to the Rotary Club of Sedona Village on October 12, 2023 at a joint club service project at Manzanita Outreach in Cottonwood.  The The Rotary Club of Sedona was also represented in this joint club service project. Rotarians lined cartons with plastic bags for their weekly food distribution and labeled donation request cards for about 2 hours.
There are four Rotary Clubs in the Verde Valley. They join forces in service projects and youth projects, such as sponsoring Interact Clubs at local high schools and junior high and often help each other raise funds for the services they support.

Centennial Celebration 2023

The Rotary Club of the Verde Valley celebrated its 100 year Anniversary in collaboration with the Cottonwood Chamber of Commerce who celebrated their 75th Anniversary.  We held a Chamber Mixer at the Springhill Suites by Marriott on April 10, 2023.  It was a great turnout, including a visit from the current DG from Rotary District 5495, Larry Horton.  We had many of our club members in attendance, as well as some from other clubs, in Arizona.  Many local businesses were represented as well as Chamber members.  Thank you all for supporting our Club.

You can find some photos here, and some information about the club's beginnings in a 50 year anniversary program from 1973.  Our club began in Jerome, Arizona in 1923.

Enjoy!

STEPS TO RECOVERY HOMES

One of the amazing organizations in the Verde Valley that the Rotary Club sponsors is Steps to Recovery Homes.  The Director is Damien Browning, a Rotary Club member.  There was an article in the local newspaper and we wanted to share it here.  Great job Damien and staff.

HWY 260 CLEANUP

Rotarians from the Verde Valley Club, along with high school students from American Heritage and Mingus High School Interact Club and their Sponsor, cleaned up a mile-long stretch of Hwy 260 in Camp Verde on Saturday, April 17.  We enjoyed getting together on a beautiful Spring day to pick up over 300 lbs of trash.  We will continue picking up trash all over our community during the AZ Rotary Clubs Week of Service.  Please join us in our efforts to clean up the Verde Valley.

ROTARY WEEK OF SERVICE

Join us during the AZ Rotary Week of Service to help make the Verde Valley beautiful.  We will be collaborating with the Sedona Rotary Clubs to pick up trash all over the Verde Valley, starting with cleaning up the mile on Hwy 260 adopted by the Rotary Club of the Verde Valley.  If you would like to join in the fun, just pick up trash where you are and report back to us how much trash (in lbs) you picked up.  Get your friends, family and students involved.  Together we can make a difference in our community.  Report to us at this email: rotarycluboftheverdevalley@gmail.com by April 24.  Include a photo of you and your trash if you wish.

VERDE VALLEY IMAGINATION LIBRARY

VERDE VALLEY IMAGINATION LIBRARY

All children in the Verde Valley between birth and 5 years are eligible for a FREE age-appropriate book each month.  The Board of the VVIL is made up of members of our local Rotary Clubs, as well as local community members.  We are proud to support this organization both with monetary gifts and service.  This year we gave $9,750 in collaboration with all four Rotary Clubs in the Verde Valley and The Rotary District 5495 Matching Grant.

Let's share in the excitement!
